Official drop-off rules in Tucson

City of Tucson: Los Reales Landfill (Los Reales Sustainability Campus)

Los Reales Landfill, 5300 E. Los Reales Road (south of Los Reales Rd at Craycroft Rd, off I-10), is the City of Tucson's only active landfill and is open to residential self-haulers from Tucson and Pima County as well as commercial haulers. Hours are Monday-Saturday 6 a.m.-5 p.m.; it is closed Sundays, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving (Nov. 26, 2026) and Christmas. Phone (520) 791-4183, or (520) 791-3171 for holiday hours.

Published rates: $18 for a covered load under 2,000 pounds, $38 per ton for covered loads over 2,000 pounds, $10 extra for an uncovered load, $5 per passenger tire (up to 10), and $20 per appliance that uses refrigerant, plus a $2 environmental fee on every load. Payment is by card or tap only (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Apple Pay), and a deposit may be held on heavy loads.

The landfill takes yard waste, pallets, mattresses, furniture, rugs, concrete and asphalt, and construction debris. It does not take regulated hazardous or universal waste, bulk liquids, waste oil, lead-acid batteries or ammunition. The campus also has a recycling drop-off where City of Tucson residents can leave blue-bin recyclables and glass, and residents and businesses can recycle scrap metal and metal appliances at no charge (appliances with refrigerant still carry the $20 evacuation fee).

Dump or dumpster: which is cheaper in Tucson?

For a pickup load or two, hauling it yourself usually wins. Once a cleanout or remodel runs to several loads, a dumpster can cost less than your time, fuel and repeated gate fees.
