Do you need a permit in Winston-Salem?
On your own driveway or private lot we found no City permit requirement.
We did not find a City page that names dumpsters specifically. The City's Temporary Right-of-Way Closure Permit applies to anyone who needs to close a roadway, a lane of a roadway or a sidewalk, which is what a street-placed dumpster usually does. A-1 Service Group says a dumpster on a public street or sidewalk needs a City right-of-way permit.
The City says there is no fee for the closure permit, but the applicant is responsible for all traffic control, including detours. Submit the form well ahead of time to the City Permit Office or by email to WSDOT permits; questions to 336-747-6831.
